Of Rourke and big bucks, of gophers and trucks

Updated: Dec 8, 2023

In his lone CFL season, Nathan Rourke made believers out of every football fan in Canada. However, the opportunity to flash his stuff in the NFL is still on hold. After watching Monday night's game it's certain that Rourke would be an improvement on the Vikings' Josh Dobbs, and is probably better than the Bear's Justin Fields. However, for now, Rourke bides his time as a third-stringer in Jacksonville.

Mark Schiefele and Connor Hellebuyck of the Jets each draw an annual salary of 8.5 million U.S. which amounts to 11.5 million Canadian. Meanwhile the team salary cap in the CFL is 5.5 million a year. Thus Schiefele and Hellebuyck each make twice as much as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

On another note, why is it that almost every road bully drives a black four-door truck? They have a tendency to fly up from behind, tailgate, and lay on the horn, all the while giving the finger salute. What's funny is that often when they get out of their trucks you can barely see them., They tend to stand a foot taller than a gopher. It must be the Putin syndrome.
